Vardhan & Maahi’s Two-Day Engagement Adventure

There are calm planners. There are chaotic planners. And then there is Vardhan, who texted me in a gentle but persistent state of “oh my god what if she sees the ring box in my pocket.”

And he’s not alone, many of my proposing clients fit that description. I get it, I mean I would be stressed too! This is why you need a calm, collected expert to help you out; it’s not easy, especially when you’re proposing in a place you’ve never been before.

This wasn’t a last-minute wing-it situation. This was spreadsheets, multiple video calls, panicked texts, and a man deeply in love wanting everything to be perfect for Maahi. We planned it all from start to finish, even down to how he would walk into the setup so it felt natural but still obviously romantic. Because subtle is great, but when you’re proposing in the Dolomites, we’re not here to be subtle.

Val di Funes in August is already ridiculous. Those jagged Odle peaks look like someone cut them out of a postcard. I told Vardhan I would create a spot that felt romantic and obvious. When he arrived with Maahi, there would be no confusion in the set up I’d make.

Rose petals scattered on the path (you’ can’t ‘re now allowed to walk on the grass). Electric candles glowing softly. The mountains standing tall behind them with of of the cute churches in the background. It was the exact landscape they had dreamed about.

As they got closer, he started his speech. They continued walking until they hit the spot, where he went down on one knee, they both had tears in their eyes. It was really a beautiful moment!

Afterward, they celebrated with a picnic provided by Paradiso.Pure Living, the fully vegan hotel in the Dolomites where they were staying. Honestly, if you’re going to toast to your engagement here, a curated vegan picnic with mountain views is a solid move.

A Quick Note About Val di Funes Regulations

If you’re reading this and dreaming about your own proposal in Val di Funes, heads up. The regulations this year are very different from before. Access is more controlled and it is not as freely accessible as it once was. Planning ahead is key. You can’t just roll up and hope for the best anymore. If you’re considering it, we need to talk logistics early.

Because one epic mountain moment clearly wasn’t enough, we met the next morning at the Elikos takeoff point.

The weather was absolutely perfect, clear skies and the peaks were looking mighty fine. We lifted off in the dark and flew toward Seceda just before sunrise. We landed and hiked to the top (yes, you still need to hike 15-20 minutes depending on your level), and we were greeting by the sun peeking right from behind the mountains. A few wildflowers still hanging on despite the late summer season. Perfection.

We went to my favourite spot, and I could tell they were still buzzing from the proposal the night before (I mean, so was I). There’s something different about the day after a proposal. The pressure is gone. The ring is on. The smiles are bigger. People just feel GOOD, you know?

The Best Part

After I delivered their sneak peeks, they sent me a video of them showing the photos to their family for the first time. Their reactions were FULL ON. I absolutely loved the roller coaster of emotions going on, it was really one of my favourite reaction videos I’ve received from clients!

If you’re dreaming about proposing in the Dolomites, Iceland, or Switzerland, I’ll help you plan it from the first nervous text to the final epic frame. Panic messages included. I’ve got you. Just send me a message!
