Adventurous Multi-Day Elopement in the Dolomites

DOLOMITES ITALY WEDDING & ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | SHAWNA RAE

Sarah & Rachel

Lago Sorapis, Tre cime & Cadini Di Misurina Elopement

Sarah and Rachel were all about shaking things up!

Instead of diving into the chaos of a big, wallet-draining wedding, they said, "Let's ditch the stress and go on a micro adventure — elopement style!" They were determined to make memories that would keep them grinning forever.

These gals were all about embracing the great outdoors, even if it meant dragging themselves out of bed at the crack of dawn to soak in those mountain views.

Their mission? To create memories so epic they'd be laughing about them for years to come. Mission more than accomplished, I'd say!

Oh and did I mention Sarah and Rachel are the most spontaneous couple I've ever met? They got engaged and eloped within the span of two weeks!

"Shawna was incredible to work with & we are so happy with our photos! The communication prior to meeting and the chats throughout the day were incredibly comfortable & easy going."

What is an Elopement?

Picture this: you and your beloved reach a point where waiting for the "perfect" wedding day loses its appeal. So, you glance at each other and think, "Why not just skip the fuss and tie the knot on our terms?" That's what eloping is all about! It's akin to embarking on a covert mission, but with heaps of affection and laughter.

Imagine: no fretting over seating arrangements or enduring Aunt Mildred's critiques on floral decor. Instead, it's just the two of you, exchanging vows wherever your hearts lead—be it atop a majestic peak, in a courthouse, on a sun-kissed shore, or beneath a starry canopy.

Elopements embody spontaneity and thrill. You become the protagonists of your own intimate love saga, free from societal norms or external pressures. So, seize your partner's hand, embrace the adventure, and let the magic unfold! Trust me, you'll craft a narrative as extraordinary as Sarah and Rachel's, brimming with the untamed beauty of your love.

Four Reasons Why You Should Elope at Lago Sorapis, the Pearl of the Dolomites

Sense of Adventure: Getting to Lago Sorapis requires a moderate hike through the picturesque Dolomite scenery, adding an element of adventure and excitement to your elopement. The journey to the lake, which includes passing through mountain meadows and crossing wooden bridges, serves as a memorable prelude to the ceremony, enhancing the overall experience and creating lasting memories.

Symbolism and Romance: Lago Sorapis is often referred to as the "Pearl of the Dolomites" due to its striking beauty and pristine waters. Choosing to elope at this iconic location symbolizes a union as rare and precious as a pearl, adding an extra layer of romance and symbolism to your wedding day. The serene ambiance of the lake and its surroundings provides the perfect setting for expressing your love and commitment to one another in a deeply meaningful way.

Eloping at Lago Sorapis, a stunning alpine lake nestled in the Dolomites, offers a truly magical and unforgettable experience for couples seeking an intimate and picturesque setting for their special day. Here are several compelling reasons why Sarah and Rachel picked Lago Sorapis for eloping:

Scenic Beauty: Lago Sorapis is renowned for its mesmerizing turquoise waters, which are framed by towering limestone cliffs and lush alpine forests. The breathtaking natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings provides a stunning backdrop for exchanging vows, creating timeless memories against the backdrop of one of nature's most captivating landscapes.

Secluded and Intimate: Unlike more popular tourist destinations in the Dolomites, Lago Sorapis remains relatively secluded and off the beaten path. Choosing to elope here allows couples to escape the crowds and enjoy a private and intimate ceremony in the midst of nature's tranquility, surrounded only by the sound of rustling leaves and the gentle lapping of the lake's waters.

Day 2: Lago di Sorapis hike

Rachel and Sarah wanted the most iconic of all Dolomites spots for their elopement: Cadini de Misurina for their vow reading and Tre Cime de Lavaredo for their kiss. The weather was just phenomenal, and the sunset was honestly one of the best ones we've ever seen. Reading your vows with a stunning backdrop, what more do you want?

Day 1: Vow Reading at Tre Cime

On the second day, we did a lesser known, more adventurous hike to Lago di Sorapis for a sunset couple shoot. Again, we were super lucky with the weather. Unfortunately, since their elopement was so spontaneous, there were no more empty beds for us to stay at the hut, so we hiked back down with our headlamps during the purple hour.
